Universal Robots and FANUC

Collaborative robots for Australian manufacturers

This page covers the collaborative robots we supply, integrate and rent across Australia: what a cobot is, the models and payloads we offer, what they are used for and how to choose one.

Our Sydney team designs each cobot cell around your product, then installs it, trains your operators and supports it on site.

The basics

What is a cobot?

A cobot is a collaborative robot arm built to share the floor with your team. It takes on the repetitive, heavy or awkward jobs, while your people stay on the tasks that need judgement.

  • Works alongside people without fixed guarding, using area scanners where needed.
  • Not bolted down, so it can be redeployed to another line or task.
  • Run from a touchscreen, with product profiles selected from a menu.
  • Designed to comply with Australian Standards for collaborative robots, with support from our Certified Machine Safety Expert.
Payload and reach

Cobot models we supply

Payload is the weight the arm can carry, including the gripper. Reach is how far it can extend from its base.

Buying guide

How to choose a collaborative robot arm

These are the questions we work through with you before recommending a robot.

01

Payload

Add the weight of your heaviest product to the weight of the gripper. The cobot must carry both.

02

Reach

Measure the furthest point the arm needs to get to, such as the top layer of a pallet.

03

Line rate

We analyse your current line rate to confirm the cobot can keep pace.

04

Gripper and vision

The product decides the gripper. If parts arrive in random positions, vision locates them.

05

Space and safety

We draw the cell into your layout with area scanners and clear access for operators.

06

Future tasks

Think about where else the cobot could work. It can be redeployed as your needs change.

Common questions

Collaborative robot FAQs

What is a collaborative robot?+

A collaborative robot, or cobot, is a robot arm designed to work alongside people. Instead of sitting behind fixed guarding, it uses area scanners where needed to slow down or stop when someone comes close.

Which cobots do you supply?+

We supply Universal Robots cobots, including the UR3e, UR7e, UR8 Long, UR15, UR20 and UR30, and FANUC collaborative robots such as the CRX-30iA and CR-35iB.

What can a cobot be used for?+

Palletising, pick and place, case packing, machine tending, assembly, finishing, bin picking and quality inspection are the applications we deliver most often.

Does a cobot need safety fencing?+

Cobots can work without fixed guarding, using area scanners where they are needed. Our cells are designed to comply with Australian Standards for collaborative robots, with support from our Certified Machine Safety Expert.

How do I choose the right cobot?+

Start with the combined weight of your product and gripper, the reach the task needs and the rate your line runs at. We assess these on site and test with your product before recommending a robot.

Can a cobot be moved to another task?+

Yes. Cobots are not bolted down, so they can be redeployed to another line or a different job as your needs change.

How much does a cobot cost?+

Each project is quoted at a fixed price that covers design, build, programming, freight, commissioning and training. If you would rather start without a large capital outlay, you can rent a cobot first.

Can I try a cobot before I buy?+

Yes. You can rent a fully configured cobot, try it on your own product and process, then keep it, extend the hire, return it or buy it. A percentage of the rental fee goes towards the purchase.
