A collaborative robot picks up cartons in varying configurations and palletises them at a controlled, safe pace, operating in tandem with staff working nearby rather than behind full guarding.
A logistics and warehousing operation needed to automate palletising of diffuser product cartons without pulling operators out of the same work area, meaning the cell had to run safely alongside staff rather than isolated behind fixed guarding. Cartons arrived in a range of configurations, so the solution needed to handle that variation while still keeping up with production demand.
We installed a FANUC CRX-25iA collaborative robot fitted with a dual vacuum end-effector, two identical vacuum units mounted together on a single interface plate, to pick and place the cartons. The robot works in tandem with operators, using the visual and audio cues of a light stack to communicate its status on the floor. It palletises at a slow, safe rate that still meets production demands, and if an operator obstructs its path, it alarms and stops immediately at the point of contact.
The client now palletises diffuser cartons across multiple configurations automatically, with the robot operating safely alongside staff in a shared workspace rather than behind guarding. The light stack keeps operators aware of the robot’s status at a glance, and the stop-on-contact behaviour means the cell runs safely in that shared space without slowing the floor down.
